2002 Volkswagen Golf – compact cars of the new generation presented in hatchback or station wagon body.
For the first time, the fourth generation models were presented in 1997. Compared to its predecessors, the car has become somewhat larger and heavier. The parameters of the wheel base have changed, increased by 39 mm. A novelty for the model was the use of a body made of galvanized steel. Updates also affected the running system.

Specifications

The car is offered with four possible configurations: Highline, GTI, Comfortline, Trendline, as well as the basic modification. The fourth generation Golf allowed to compete with such models as Skoda Octavia and Audi A3. The car was created using the PQ34 platform.
The line of power units includes 3 diesel engines and 5 gasoline engines. Some engines were equipped with turbines.

For GL and GLS versions, 2-liter 4-cylinder in-line engines with a capacity of 115 hp are presented. A turbocharged 90-horsepower diesel unit is optionally available. The highest speed is provided by a 4-cylinder in-line engine with a working volume of 1.8 liters. All versions of the fourth generation are equipped with a 5-speed “mechanics” or an automatic 4-speed.

The car’s suspension is represented by front MacPherson struts and an independent torsion beam. The car has ventilated front and disc rear brakes.
