Volkswagen introduced a Tesla Model 3 competitor with a range of 700 km

On the eve of the world’s largest consumer electronics exhibition CES, which will begin on January 5 this year, Volkswagen has shown its first all-electric sedan – the ID.7. Officially the electric car will be presented at the event itself.

The novelty is covered with bright “smart” camouflage. The company noted that the body is covered not with a film, but with a special paint with 40 layers. However, even through it one can see that the ID.7 almost completely repeats the concept ID.Aero shown earlier. The electric car has a streamlined body, arch-shaped roof and narrowed LED headlights with modern graphics. It also gets big wheels, enlarged rearview mirrors and standard door handles.

The interior of electric sedan is spacious and comfortable. Its equipment includes a digital dashboard and multimedia system with 15-inch screen. There is also a projection display with augmented reality function. The highlight of the ID.7 is an innovative climate control system, which itself detects when it is necessary to warm or cool the air in the cabin. Digitally controlled air vents automatically direct the air toward the driver and passengers.

The VW ID.7 is built on the MEB modular platform and will be the successor to the popular Passat. The model will be offered with one and two electric motors. Performance has not yet been announced. The high-capacity battery built into the floor of the electric car will provide mileage on a single charge up to 700 kilometers. The novelty will be offered in Europe, Asian countries and North America. Production is scheduled to start in the second quarter of 2023.
