Volkswagen is preparing to launch electric cars with 700 km range in 2025
The Volkswagen Group is working on a new electric car model that will be assembled at the brand’s plant in Wolfsburg, Germany.
According to Thomas Schäfer, CEO of the German carmaker, the novelty will be based on the MEB+ platform, the main advantage of which will be new batteries. Thanks to them the model will be able to travel up to 700 km on a single charge. To top up the used charge will be possible at stations with a speed of up to 200 kW.
It is also known that it will be a full-size crossover, which will join the best-selling ID.4 and ID.5, and will be made in the same style. High-tech novelty will be presented in the next two years, and it will go on sale in 2025.
Thomas Schaefer said that the company’s plant will be modernized for the implementation of a large-scale project, which intends to produce ten new electric cars, including a budget model costing up to 25,000 dollars. The amount of investment will be 460 million euros. The renewed plant will start operating in 2023.
