Volkswagen Jetta GLI Performance

The Volkswagen Jetta GLI Performance is one of the most interesting concepts presented by the German concern at the ongoing tuning show in Las Vegas these days. The show car is based on the production Jetta GLI Autobahn, but differs by its aggressive appearance.

The perimeter of the body is equipped with a wide skirt which adds 20 mm to the fender area. At the front, a custom bumper with larger air intakes and red decorative inserts attracts attention. At the rear, a pair of massive rounded spigots sports exhaust system.

Also the show car got sports side “skirts” and 20-inch wheels Rotiform with aerodynamic hubcaps. Behind them, there are powerful brakes RacingLine Stage 3+ with six-piston calipers and 381-millimeter carbon-ceramic discs. The body and wheel covers are vinyl-coated with a geometric pattern in the colors metallic red and matte black.

Inside, there are Recaro Pole Position sport seats with developed side support and integrated headrests. The two-tone upholstery of the seats is made in a custom Texagon design.

The Volkswagen Jetta GLI Performance gets a RacingLine TrackSport suspension kit with coilovers and a reinforced underbody. Under the hood is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with the RacingLine package, carbon fiber air intake, upgraded intercooler and oil cooler. The output of the unit is 350 hp and 503 Nm of torque. For comparison, in the base sedan this motor generates 228 hp and 349 Nm. Transmission is six-speed manual. The drive is front wheel drive.

How the improvements affected dynamic characteristics of the sedan is not specified. Thus the company asserts that Volkswagen Jetta GLI Performance will feel equally comfortable both on a track and on usual roads.
