Volkswagen showed an electric SUV under the new Scout brand

Volkswagen has launched an advertising campaign for an electric SUV of the newly created Scout brand. Its target market will be the U.S., where production will be set up. Earlier, sketches of the first two Scout models, an electric pickup and SUV, were shown. This aroused some analogy with the American Rivian. Its first models were also pickup truck R1T and SUV R1S.

It is known that the SUV and Scout pickup will be built on a new electric platform. Their prototypes are promised to show in 2023. The appearance of electric cars will reflect the image of the International Harvester Scout SUV, after which the new brand is named. It was produced by International Harvester from 1961 to 1980. Volkswagen has owned the Scout brand since 2020 through its U.S. truck subsidiary Navistar International.

Judging by the blacked-out promo photo distributed by Volkswagen, the Scout electric SUV will have the same high-rise, square body, but with smoother lines. It is impossible to see the exterior design in detail, as it shows only the general features of the car in full-face. We will have to wait for new pictures.
