Volkswagen Transporter T5 is a representative of commercial vehicles of one of the most popular and reliable brands. The minivan was appreciated for its practical, detailed design and original technical characteristics. It is not surprising that over time the car received minimal transformations and practically did not experience any changes. The model is also presented in several modifications, namely Caravelle, Multivan and California.

The updated 5th generation VW Transporter T5 was introduced in 2003. Among the features, the transverse arrangement of the engine attracted attention. Models of other modifications received decorative chrome overlays. The motors have also received updates.

Design features

The car has a classic and restrained design. The lines of the body are clear and thought out to the smallest detail. Ribbed longitudinal stripes added modernity and dynamism. There is a fairly massive manufacturer’s mark on the central grille. The radiator grille is limited by the surface of the bumper, above which round miniature fog lights are located on opposite sides.

Since 2010, the model has been produced with two different wheelbase parameters. In addition, you can choose the height of the roof from three available options and one of four weight options.

Technical characteristics

The line of power units is represented by gasoline and diesel 2-liter in-line engines with a 5- or 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed robot. The car received a slightly improved system with diesel units equipped with an injector pump, a turbocharger and a direct injection system. 5 and 6-cylinder engines became available.

Expensive configurations were produced with all-wheel drive and an automatic gearbox. After the update, the gear shifter was installed on the instrument panel.

Comfort and safety

The basic configuration of the Volkswagen Transporter T5 is equipped with a standard set of safety and comfort systems. The telescopic steering column allows you to adjust the optimal parameters for the convenience of the driver. The model has bi-xenon headlights, automatic climate control, a refrigerator, and electric sliding doors. The navigation system helps to follow the direction of movement and navigation.
The comfort of the driver and passengers is ensured by systems of ventilation and seat heating. Additionally, ABS, EDS, tire pressure monitoring, and brake pressure control system are provided.
